News from the Top of the World!

Leadvillle local, Marvin Sandoval, regroups at the Twin Lakes
aid station managed by Saunders Company and volunteers.

Saunders Company joined with the Leadville Race Series (now owned by Lifetime Fitness) in managing the Twin Lakes aid station for the 100 mile mountain bike race.  Lifetime Fitness is now headquartered in historic  downtown Leadville where they sponsor many racing events.

Wild Weather Comes to Leadville!

Quick camera action by our bookkeeper, Marsha Carter, captured this cold funnel cloud that formed in front of Mt. Massive on 6/13/2010 and it looks like it was headed towards our office.  Fortunately this rare weather phenomena does not touch the ground.

Jack had the opportunity on two consecutive days to bike up Independence Pass which is located between Leadville and Aspen before it opened to car traffic for Memorial Day weekend. His friends (and past clients) offered some extra incentive for training by attaching their Tagalong to his bike. Their six-year-old daughter provided extra horse power and delightful observations (eg: "shadows are only two dimensional!")

The Colorado Department of Transportation has plowed the Leadville side of Independence Pass, and opened the Aspen side just in time for Memorial Day weekend through  formidable walls of snow. Yes, the elevation is really 12,095 feet!

Training paid off as Jack beat the train in a 50-mile race from Durango to Silverton!

Saunders Company has organized a community recycling program at the Leadville Post Office.
The Post Office provided the barrels and Saunders Company contracts with Green Keepers Recycling to collect catalogs, unopened mail and junk mail.

Jack and Cindy Attend Builder 20 Meeting in Grand Rapids
Jack attended this semi-annual conference in August, where they and other custom home builders toured the host's single family construction projects. Jack brought back some great ideas he'd like to incoroporate into YOUR next home!

The Builder 20 group, organized by the National Association of Home Builders, has been together since 2003.  They get together twice a year and visit a member's business to see the homes they've built; to review financial, marketing and technical aspects of the home building industry; and share updates and news of each one's market.  Fifteen custom home builders from across the USA belong to this group.

Here is Lance Armstrong, 7 time Tour de France winner, passing by our office on his way to victory in the 2009 Leadville Trail 100 bike race.  And on a rear flat tire for the last seven miles.  For information about the foot or bike races, visit www.leadvilleraceseries.com
